Maria José Pontes

Possui graduação em Física pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1985), mestrado em Física pelo Instituto de Física Gleb Wataghin (1989) e doutorado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Faculdade de Engenharia Elétrica e de Computação – UNICAMP (1996). Atuou em várias Instituições de Ensino Superior em Ensino de Graduação e de Pós-Graduação, Pesquisa, supervisão e orientação de alunos. E´ o caso da CEFET/PR, hoje Universidade Tecnólogica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR) e o Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME). Também trabalhou na empresa Optiwave Corporation Inc., Ottawa-Canadá no desenvolvimento de produtos de software para projeto de amplificadores e sistemas ópticos. Atualmente é Professor Associado II no Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo. É atualmente a Diretora do INIT – UFES, o Instituto de Inovação Tecnológica da UFES. Tem trabalhado nos últimos anos na modelagem e implementação prática de dispositivos em fibra, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: amplificadores ópticos, efeito plasmônico e sensores em fibra, não linearidades em fibras, aplicação de dispositivos em redes WDM, sistemas de altas taxas.
